For more than 135 years, Travelers has been a leading provider of a full range of insurance products. In 1864 they were the first company in America to insure against accidents. In 1865 they published the first insurance industry magazine. Over the years Travelers was at the forefront being the first insurance company to offer a number of new innovations from automobile coverage, a training school for agents, establishment of employee-staffed claim "hot lines," to protection for individuals using personal competers for online home banking transactions.

In 2006 QBE celebrates the 120th anniversary of the formation of its founding company, The North Queensland Insurance Company Limited. Back in 1883, James Burns the founder of Burns, Philip & Co., Ltd established a fleet of ships in Australia to service shipping and trading ventures on the Australian east coast and neighboring islands. In concert with an agency for the Australian United Steam Navigation Co, this partnership capitalized on the growth in trade and marine transport in the region. As an extension of this business the North Queensland Insurance company was formed in 1886 providing marine insurance coverage.

QBE the Americas comprises general insurance and reinsurance business. From its' Kansas offices, the QBE Agri Division is dedicated to underwriting, policy services and claims and is the backbone supporting the insurance coverage offered to farm and ranch clients.
